Feb. 17th, 2008 @ 06:51 pm FreeRice - A Good Web Site
Current Mood: good
The FreeRice Web site (http://freerice.com/) is good in multiple ways. When you visit it, you get to learn new vocabulary in a fun, engaging game. But instead of winning only points, you earn rice that will be fed to the hungry. The FreeRice site uses funds raised by unobtrusive advertising to pay for the rice.

As an added bonus, I find several of the advertisers to be ones that I'd like to know more about or whom I already like. The site itself is simple and easy to navigate. It has good links to other sites on hunger and agencies that help to alleviate world hunger.

Enjoy, learn and contribute to the improvement of the world all at once!

Nov. 10th, 2007 @ 04:35 pm Supporting Communities Using Web-based Tools
Current Mood: curious
Hi. I'm checking out different ways to support existing communities using Web-based tools. I'm looking at a few of the common tools including, Wikia, Facebook, ning, MySpace, and of course, LiveJournal. Any comments or suggestions about how to use one or more of these tools to support a community or when one is more suited than another would be welcome.
